On December 9, 2022, the NAI hosted experts from Kelley Drye to provide NAI members with a detailed and comprehensive overview of the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) requirements for Ad-tech. Partners Aaron Burstein, Laura Riposo VanDruff, and Alysa Hutnik answered the industry’s most pressing questions regarding the CPRA. The focus was on key topics, such as: compliance priorities and enforcement timeline; service provider requirements and limitations; complying with opt-out preference signals; the role and contractual requirements for service providers, contractors and third-parties; requirements for notice at collection; restrictions on the collection and use of personal information; and data subject access rights, including flow-down requirements. The webinar also highlighted key statutory requirements that are still awaiting future rulemaking, such as sensitive personal information, data privacy impact assessments, automated decision-making, and agency audits.
This was the first in a series of informational webinars and discussions focused on the CPRA and other new state laws coming into force in 2023, where the NAI will engage with our close partners and legal experts to provide webinars and discussions, with the goal of developing practical guidelines and industry best practices to assess members with compliance.
